"Detsember Fantasie" is a multicultural musical celebration of December holidays. It is scored for piano, harp, cello and flute and is intended as a prelude to THE GIFT OF THE MAGI.
It begins with a fiery commentary between all of the instruments and resolves into a intriguing rendition of "Amazing Grace." Familiar melodies, often with unexpected harmonizations, are juxtaposed in such a way that the main theme is constantly evolving. All of the familiar tunes that are alluded to by the composer are in the public domain. At times it may appear to be a "Hanukkah" or "Christmas" medley because of the choice of melodies, but the intent is that the piece lightheartedly expose the contradictions that lie within the confines of a limited personal ideology or perspective.
